I love the internet.
I needed a good light for late nights at work, and I have now fallen into the rabbit hole. I just know that one of these days I'll stumble across one of you on some weird corner of the internet...

I have a Fenix for work. It’s great, rechargable through micro-USB, solid build quality, and very bright with different luminosity levels. 10/10.

I’ve had an old metal Surefire with a drop in Malkov head for a while now. Thing is bullet proof.

I have a Fenix PD35 and I take it practically everywhere with me. In fact I have a handlebar mount for it where it serves as a bike light for night mtb rides. It might be one of the most quality products I own.

It's great isn't it? I was a part of a raw denim community many moons ago.

I may have Fenix tabs open

I’m about 99% sure my dad is on there. He was into flashlights really seriously a few years ago.
Edit: yep, not even 5 replies in and I see his username

That is peak dad. Respect

Meanwhile, in some flashlight forum, they're going on about us weirdos being obsessed with cars. Why cars?!

heh, I remember finding that place about 12 years ago. back then, the TigerLight incandescent flashlight was the new hotness. it had a 6 cell NiMH battery and was so bright you could feel the heat if you pointed it at your skin.
LEDs have really changed the game since then.

I always buy ones made with genuine RealSkin, and I prefer a knobbly textu- oh you said FLASH light.

I have the TK20R if you have any questions.

That's one of the ones I was looking at. Would it light up a house number from 20 meters away?
![]() 12/11/2019 at 20:22 |

Taken at 20 metres with the brightest setting. I would likely go for something a bit more powerful for your use case. Keep in mind the moon is behind me here.

[sigh]
I may have been on that forum...this is our excellent Fenix TK47 that resulted.

Every car basically has flashlights on the front of it! Why wouldn’t we like cars?

Oh, geez. Pretty sure YP has a whole section dedicated to “creampies gone bad”...

denim? I’m interested.

Oooooh yeah flashlights are one of my guilty pleasures as well.
Been on a Streamlight kick for a little while now. The customer service when I had a bad one was unbelievable. Walked in to a retailer, walked out with a brand new one in less than 30 seconds.

Flashlight people are weird. Not quite audiophile weird, but pretty weird.
..he says with a N itecore HC33 on his head.

Meanwhile, I’ve got a Klipsch on my head and I can’t see anything!
Thank god for the internet, though, there's so much BS to cut through in the audiophile world.

High power flashes are so damn cheap now. 250-500 Lumins should do the trick, led too.

Thanks, I hate it.

Hmm. I think that would be more than enough. Although the “more, bigger, better” side of me is oo hing and ahhing over this bad mambi-jambi. I just want to turn it on and off a few times!

I don’t frequent, but I do check out some of the analytics and reviews threads when it comes time to buy a new torch.
My Olight H2R Nova neutral white 18650 rechargeable.
2300 burst lumens. just about he brightest thing with a single 18650 cell that fits in a pocket. Bonus that it fits on a magnetic headband as a headlight as well, and the magnetic cap both can support the flashlight on a metal surface, and is the charging point, although can’t just use any handy USB cord .
I carry it every day, and use it frequently.
My previous, now backup flashlight is a Nitecore MH20.
Not sure what I’ll go with next.
Candlepower is a good forum to get detailed test results, and candid user reviews.

That looks like it could replace the moon.

Go stalk the ironheart forum. These are people who obsess over every aspect of denim construction, and take the term “work wear” quite seriously. Ever had a pair of jeans made of 25oz denim? That’s thick enough to stand up straight... Without a person inside. I think a regular pair of Levi’s these days uses something like 7oz? And even less for the fashion brands.
Oh God. The raw denim memories.... You've opened the floodgates!

I knew there would be some overlap.

Nothing will ever replace the reassuring feel of a big ol' Maglite though.

C ripes that’s a lot of meat! I wouldn’t consider myself an enthusiast, just a big fan of how they look and feel.

I bought a custom 1 cell maglight off of someone on cpf. Converted it to LED and run it on am adapter, 3x AA in a D size holder. It runs forever, even if it’s only around 110 lumens.

In my head I thought, “Seriously, flashlight enthusiasts?” Then I corrected myself realizing that I am a car nut and where I was read ing.
Something something washing machine enthusiasts something something.

The closest I ever got to a nice flashlight was I believe a Coast HP7 I mounted on a shotgun, ostensibly for varmints but more to look cool than anything. I do li ke how smoothly it focuses between spot and beam, but I almost never use it so I don’t know how well it’d hold up to real use. Those Fenix lights look perhaps a little more legit
I was actually just thinking yesterday I should start doing some research about a newer, higher powered light to put on there for hunting coyote/bobcat at night
